Importing Guides from TouchStay

If you are switching from TouchStay to BetterSTR, you can import your existing guides rather than recreating them from scratch. The import tool transfers your content structure, text, and icons automatically.

Before You Begin

You will need:

• Your TouchStay guide URL (the public guest link)
• A BetterSTR property to import into

Finding Your TouchStay URL

Your TouchStay guide URL looks like:

https://guide.touchstay.com/guest/bu9DPEMCs0sGq

You can find this by:

1. Opening your TouchStay guide
2. Copying the URL from your browser address bar

Starting the Import

1. Go to Properties in BetterSTR
2. Select a property without an existing guide
3. Click Create Guide
4. In the options modal, click Copy a TouchStay Guide

Import Process

Step 1: Enter Your TouchStay URL

1. Paste your TouchStay guide URL into the text field
2. The system validates the URL format in real-time
3. You will see a green checkmark when the URL is valid

Step 2: Select Destination

Choose which BetterSTR property guide to import into. If you accessed the importer from a specific property, it will be pre-selected.

Step 3: Import

1. Click Import Guide
2. Wait while the system fetches and processes your content
3. You will be redirected to the Guide Builder when complete

What Gets Imported

Imported Content

• Categories - Top-level menu items
• Subcategories - Second-level menu items
• Topics - Individual content pages
• Text Content - All descriptions and text (HTML preserved)
• Icons - Automatically mapped to FontAwesome equivalents
• Structure - Full hierarchy and display order

Icon Mapping

TouchStay icons are automatically converted:

Unmapped icons default to an info circle.

What Is NOT Imported

• Images and Photos - Upload these in the Guide Builder
• Videos - Re-embed video content
• Dynamic Widgets - Weather, ratings, etc.
• Master Content - Shared content blocks

After Import

Once your guide is imported:

1. Review the structure - Check that all sections imported correctly
2. Upload images - Add photos to each section
3. Update property-specific content - WiFi, codes, addresses
4. Add shortcodes - Replace static text with dynamic shortcodes
5. Preview your guide - View as your guests will see it

Troubleshooting

Invalid URL Error

Ensure your URL matches the format: https://guide.touchstay.com/guest/XXXXX

Import Failed

Possible causes:

• The TouchStay guide is not publicly accessible
• The guide has been deleted or moved
• Temporary API issues

Try again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, contact support.

Missing Content

If some content did not import:

• Check if it was in a special content type (video, widget)
• Manually add the missing sections
