Yes. The digital guidebook is free forever with unlimited properties and guidebooks and no credit card required. You only pay for optional add-ons like custom domains, SMS, WiFi marketing, a companion tablet or the in-room TV.
Branded subdomain $9.95/year (custom domain $14.95/year); WiFi marketing $7/month for the first property, then $2/month each additional; companion tablet from $2/device/month; BetterSTR TV from $3/device/month (free for at least 3 months); SMS $0.10 per message. See the pricing page for full details.
16 platforms are live: Airbnb, Hospitable, OwnerRez, Guesty, Hostaway, Lodgify, Tokeet, AdvanceCM, Sympl, Streamline VRS, Hostex.io, Hosttools, MyRent, Hostfully, Smoobu and Resly, with two more in final testing. Reservations, guest names and check-in/check-out dates sync automatically to your guidebook, tablet and TV. See all integrations.
Guests enter their name and email on a branded splash page to get online, so you capture every guest's contact details (not just the booker's) and can prevent parties through usage monitoring. It works with UniFi, TP-Link Omada, Mikrotik or a low-cost Raspberry Pi gateway. Learn more about WiFi marketing.
BetterSTR TV turns any Android TV or Google TV into a branded guest welcome screen showing your guidebook, a Wi-Fi QR code, local info and streaming apps, all managed remotely over the air.
Yes, through Stripe. You can sell upsells such as early check-in and extras, and collect and release refundable security deposits directly from your guidebook.
Yes. A branded subdomain is $9.95/year and a custom domain is $14.95/year, both with SSL and no BetterSTR branding.
The web guidebook updates as soon as the page is loaded again. The Companion tablet refreshes every 10–15 minutes. BetterSTR TV refreshes every 15–25 minutes while the TV is on and hourly in standby, and pressing Home on the remote forces an immediate refresh (provided it hasn't already done one in the last 60 seconds).
No. We capture every guest who joins your Wi-Fi, not just the booker, and present that data live in the portal with CSV export, so you can use Mailchimp or whatever system you already run. We don't build or send email campaigns. SMS remarketing to past guests is built in, at $0.10 per message — see Remarket to past guests with SMS or CSV export.
You run two networks. The open guest network carries the captive portal, and a second standard password-protected network bypasses it entirely. That second network is for you, your cleaners, and devices that need to talk to each other (printers, baby monitors), and it's the fallback you hand a guest who's having trouble.
There's no app for those TV operating systems, but the TV itself doesn't matter. Plug a BetterSTR TV box (or any Android TV device) into an HDMI port and it becomes the source the television starts on — so any TV with an HDMI input works, including Roku, Samsung and LG sets.
We hold the relationship with Viator, who pay us 8% commission on activities booked through the platform, and we share 4% of that with you. Nothing is added to the price the guest pays, and there are no relationships for you to negotiate with activity providers. It works the same way in your guidebooks and on the TV — see adding Viator activities.
