On the free plan
Your free service is supported by tasteful, occasional adverts on the photo-frame screensaver — and only when there’s a relevant local business (a nearby cafe, event or tourism operator) wanting to reach guests staying in your area. We never fill the screen with ads, and it’s not on every screensaver — most of the time guests simply see your beautiful photo frame. In return, you get the whole in-room TV experience at no cost.
On Premium On our roadmap
Paying customers see no adverts at all by default. If you’d rather earn from your screens, you’ll be able to opt in to our advertising marketplace and share the revenue from local adverts shown on your TVs — a hands-off income stream from idle screen time.

Frequently Asked Questions
- You enable a couple of settings yourself — turn on Accessibility (so it becomes the home screen), allow “Modify system settings”, and choose BetterSTR TV as the screensaver.
- Updates come from the Play Store rather than silently over the air.
- The TV still powers on to greet guests at check-in, but automatic standby at check-out needs a device we provision (turning the TV off relies on a system permission Google Play won’t grant), and the home screen isn’t fully locked down.
For a completely hands-off, locked-down guest device — silent updates, automatic standby at check-out, and a home screen guests can’t leave — use a device we provision with the free setup tool instead.
