Some hosts would rather not publish their exact address in the guidebook, for example a private home, a property with a lockbox at the door, or a listing where the address is only shared after booking. Two Premium settings let you keep the address off your guide, or turn the map off completely.
Where to find them
- Go to Guidebooks → Properties.
- Click the gear button on the property to open its settings.
- Choose Map in the left menu.
- Under Privacy, switch on the setting you want, then click Save Changes.
These are set per property, so you can hide the address on one property and leave it showing on the others.
Hide my address
When this is on:
- The address on the guide’s home screen is shown as plain text, without the link that opens Google Maps directions.
- The Home pin is removed from the guide map, along with the “Home” entry in the map’s colour legend.
- The map still opens zoomed in on the property’s area at your chosen zoom level, so guests can see the neighbourhood and all your points of interest (restaurants, beaches, shops and so on).
Directions to your points of interest still work as normal. Only the link and pin for the property itself are removed.
The address text itself
This setting removes the map link and the pin, not the street line on the home screen. If you don’t want the street shown at all, use Override PMS address and pin in the same Map section to replace it with something general, such as the property name or the suburb.
Turn off the map
When this is on, Map is removed from your guide’s menus: the side menu, the bottom bar on phones and the menu in the other guide layouts. Use it if you don’t want a map in the guide at all. The bottom bar’s remaining buttons widen to fill the space.
Premium features
Both settings are part of Premium guide features. They work on any property covered by Premium, during your free trial, and on properties on BetterSTR Simple. Without Premium, the switches are greyed out with a link to upgrade.
If your Premium ends, your guide goes back to the standard map: the address link, Home pin and Map menu item show again. Your choices are kept, and they apply again as soon as Premium is active, so there’s nothing to set up twice.
Not seeing the change?
Guides update straight after you save. If you still see the old map, refresh the guide page, or open it in a private browser window.
