Map Color Legend and Tag Filter Controls

The Map Color Legend and Tag Filter are two complementary features designed to help your guests navigate and explore your property's area guide more effectively. These controls make it easier for guests to find exactly what they're looking for, whether it's a nearby restaurant, shopping center, or recreational activity.

Feature Descriptions

Color Legend

A visual navigation tool that appears on your property's map:

• Visual Identification: Each category (restaurants, parks, shopping, etc.) is assigned a unique color

• Interactive Filtering: Guests can click on any category to instantly filter the map

• Smart Preview: Shows the top 4 categories with an expandable “...” option for all categories

• Custom Tag Support: Colors automatically assigned to custom tags (e.g., Kids Fun, Date Night)

• Default State: ON – enabled by default but can be disabled
  
  

Tag Filter Dropdown

A traditional dropdown menu in the top-right corner of the map:

• Text-Based Selection: Lists all available categories

• Color Indicators: Dots matching marker colors appear next to each option

• All Locations Option: Quickly resets to all markers

• Alphabetical Ordering: Sorted alphabetically, except Home (always first)

• Default State: OFF – hidden by default but can be enabled

Configuration Options

Account-Level Settings (Default for All Properties)

1. Navigate to Properties → Property Defaults

2. Scroll to the Map Settings section

3. Find Map Controls:

   • Color Legend: Toggle ON/OFF (Default: ON)

   • Tag Filter: Toggle ON/OFF (Default: OFF)

4. Click Save Changes

Individual Property Settings

1. Go to Properties → Manage Properties

2. Click Edit on the specific property

3. Navigate to the Map Settings section

4. Under Map Controls, adjust:

   • Color Legend: Toggle to override default

   • Tag Filter: Toggle to override default

5. Click Update Property

Use Cases and Best Practices

When to Use Color Legend

• Recommended for: Areas with many points of interest

• Best when: You want a clean, modern interface

• Ideal for: Visual learners who prefer color coding

• Mobile-friendly: Minimal screen space, maximum functionality

When to Use Tag Filter Dropdown

• Recommended for: Guests who like dropdown menus

• Best when: You have many categories to display

• Ideal for: Text-based navigation preferences

• Consider when: Guests may not be comfortable with new UI patterns

Using Both Together

• Provides two different filtering methods

• Supports varied user preferences

• Legend and dropdown stay synchronized

Technical Details

Color Assignment

• Predefined categories have assigned colors

• Custom tags receive colors from a 20-color palette

• Colors remain consistent across all properties

• Multi-tagged locations: first tag determines color

Marker Behavior

• Only black markers (#000000) are auto-colored by tags

• Custom-colored markers keep their original colors

• Home marker is always visible

Troubleshooting

• Legend not appearing? Check if enabled and tags exist.

• Dropdown not showing? Ensure enabled and multiple categories exist.

• Colors mismatched? Custom-colored markers aren’t overridden; first tag sets color on multi-tagged locations.
