The Media Library
Your media library stores all images and files you upload to BetterSTR. Access it from Media in the left navigation menu.
Uploading Images
From the Media Library
- Go to Media in the left menu
- Click Upload or drag files into the upload area
- Select one or more images from your computer
- Wait for the upload to complete
From the Guide Builder
- While editing content, click the Image icon in the toolbar
- Choose Upload to add new images
- Or browse your existing media library
- Click an image to insert it into your content
Supported File Types

Maximum file size: 5MB per image
Automatic Image Optimization
BetterSTR automatically optimizes your images for fast loading:
- Automatic resizing – Large images are resized to web-friendly dimensions
- Compression – File sizes reduced without visible quality loss
- WebP conversion – Modern browsers receive optimized WebP versions
- Orientation correction – Portrait/landscape detected automatically
You don't need to resize images before uploading – we handle it automatically!
Organizing Your Media
Viewing Options
- Grid view shows image thumbnails
- Sort by upload date (newest first)
- Search by filename
Image Details
Click any image to view:
- Full-size preview
- Filename and upload date
- File size (original and optimized)
- Direct URL for sharing
Inserting Images in Guides
Method 1: From the Toolbar
- In the Guide Builder, place your cursor where you want the image
- Click the Image icon in the editor toolbar
- Browse or search your media library
- Click the image to insert it
Method 2: Drag and Drop
- Drag an image file from your computer
- Drop it directly into the content editor
- The image uploads and inserts automatically
Image Best Practices
Photo Tips
- Show, don't tell – A photo of the lockbox is better than describing its location
- Use good lighting – Bright, clear photos are easier to understand
- Include context – Show surrounding landmarks to help guests find things
- Update seasonally – Winter photos in summer can confuse guests
Recommended Image Uses
- Property exterior (helps guests find it)
- Lockbox or key safe location
- Parking spot or garage access
- Appliance controls (thermostat, TV remote)
- Rubbish bin locations
- WiFi router/password sticker
- Local landmarks for directions
Deleting Images
- Go to Media in the left menu
- Find the image you want to delete
- Click the trash icon
- Confirm the deletion
Note: Deleting an image from the media library will break any guides using that image. Make sure it's not in use before deleting.
Free Stock Images
Need professional photos? BetterSTR includes access to free stock images:
- In the media library, click Free Images
- Search for what you need (e.g., "beach", "kitchen", "wifi")
- Click to download and add to your library
