Add a scannable WiFi QR code to your Guidebook so guests can join your network by pointing their phone camera at the screen. No typing the network name or password, and no “is that a zero or an O?” messages.
How to add it
- Open your Guidebook in the editor and go to the section where your WiFi details live.
- Click where you want the QR code to appear.
- Open the {{shortcode}} menu in the toolbar and choose WiFi QR Code. This inserts
{{wifi_join_qr}}. You can also type it in by hand. - Save. The QR code now shows in your guide, with a short “Scan with your phone camera to join” caption underneath.
What the QR code contains
The code is built from the same WiFi details as the {{wifi_ssid}} and {{wifi_pass}} shortcodes, so you only keep them up to date in one place.
- Network name and password both set: scanning joins the secured network with the password filled in automatically.
- Only a network name set: the QR code is created for an open network with no password. This is handy for properties with open WiFi, where the copy password button does not appear.
- No network name set: nothing is shown, so you can leave the shortcode in a shared template without leaving a broken image behind.
Your WiFi details come from your PMS when it sends them, otherwise from the property’s settings or your account-wide property defaults. See Property Defaults: WiFi, Check-in Times, and House Rules to set or change them.
Example
A WiFi section might read:
Network: {{wifi_ssid}}
Password: {{wifi_pass}}
{{wifi_join_qr}}
Guests on a laptop can copy the details, and guests on a phone or tablet can scan the code from another device, such as the guide open on your TV or a printed copy.
The QR code includes your password
Anyone who scans the code can join your network, just as anyone who reads {{wifi_pass}} can. If you would rather keep WiFi details out of your public guide, set the content block’s Visibility to Reservation Link Only or Mobile TXT Only.
See Restrict Sensitive Content Like PIN Codes or Lockbox Info for how visibility works.
Is this the same as the WiFi QR Code product?
No. This shortcode is a free, standard “join this network” code that any phone camera understands. The separate WiFi QR Code (no hardware) feature collects guest details before revealing the WiFi, and is set up from the WiFi section of your account.
