Cloudbeds has been one of our most requested integrations, and today it's live. Whether you run a boutique hotel, a hostel, a B&B or a set of vacation rentals on Cloudbeds, BetterSTR now connects directly. And like every BetterSTR integration, it's included in the free plan.
The connection is genuinely self-service. Cloudbeds lets you create your own API key from your account, no plan upgrade, no waiting on partner approval. Create the key, paste it into BetterSTR, and your property details and reservations sync straight in: address, photos, description, amenities, check-in and check-out times, plus every booking with guest details, party size, room assignment and the source channel (Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb or direct).
What actually syncs
- Property details: photos, description, amenities, address, check-in and check-out times, everything BetterSTR needs to build a guidebook that already knows your place.
- Reservations: guest names and contact details, stay dates, party size, which room they're in, and where the booking came from.
- Changes, as they happen: when a booking is created, changes status or moves dates in Cloudbeds, it lands in BetterSTR in near real-time via Cloudbeds webhooks. An hourly sync runs as a backstop, so nothing slips through even if a webhook goes missing.
Every reservation gets its own guidebook link
This is the part that saves you the most time. The moment a reservation syncs, BetterSTR generates a unique guest guidebook link for that stay, personalised to that guest, that property and those dates. Drop the link into your Cloudbeds email templates once, and every future guest gets their own guide without you lifting a finger.
Your guides can also use Cloudbeds-specific shortcodes: confirmation ID, party size, room name, booking source, estimated arrival time, and even your own Cloudbeds custom fields. So a guide can open with the guest's room already named, rather than a generic hello.
It's not just guidebooks
Once Cloudbeds is connected, the whole BetterSTR stack works off the same reservation data:
- Digital guidebooks: branded, multi-language, no app download for guests.
- BetterSTR TV welcome screens: greet guests by name on the in-room TV (more on this below).
- WiFi QR codes: guests scan and they're online, no password hunting.
- Guest verification: confirm who's actually staying before check-in.
- SMS and email automation: timed messages keyed off the real check-in and check-out dates from Cloudbeds.
- Upsells: early check-in, late check-out and local extras, offered inside the guide.
The highlight: your TVs become the guest experience
Here's the part no PMS gives you. Cloudbeds doesn't offer a fully integrated in-property screen. There's no tablet companion and no TV service tied to the reservation. With BetterSTR connected to Cloudbeds, the TV in every room or unit knows exactly who's staying and when, and turns itself into a five-star welcome:
- Personal welcome screen: greets each guest by name for the exact dates of their Cloudbeds booking, automatically switching over between stays.
- Guidebook on the big screen: house info, check-out instructions and local recommendations, browsable from the bed or couch with the normal TV remote.
- WiFi QR on screen: guests point their phone at the TV and they're connected. No laminated cards, no calls to the front desk.
- Local activities, weather and upsells: things to do nearby, the forecast for their stay, and your extras (late check-out, breakfast, mid-stay clean) right where guests are already looking.
- Runs on affordable hardware: any Android TV / Google TV device, or the plug-and-play BetterSTR TV stick from our shop. For a hotel or hostel, that's one cheap stick per room.

Built for hotels and hostels too
Most of our integrations serve short-term rental hosts, and Cloudbeds brings a new crowd: hotels, hostels and B&Bs. The good news is the guest experience translates directly. A hostel's guide answers the same questions a rental's does (WiFi, checkout time, where to eat), and a TV welcome screen per room scales beautifully because the reservation data drives everything. Set it up once, and every room's screen follows its own bookings.
How to connect (about two minutes)
- Log in to Cloudbeds and open Account → Apps & Marketplace, then create a new API key. The BetterSTR connect page lists the five permission scopes to tick.
- In BetterSTR, go to Integrations → Cloudbeds and paste the key in.
- That's it. Your property and reservations sync straight away, and stay in sync from then on.
One thing worth knowing: Cloudbeds fixes a key's permission scopes at creation time. If a scope gets missed, just delete the key in Cloudbeds and create a fresh one with all five ticked. The connect page walks you through it.

Does this cost anything on the BetterSTR side?
No. All BetterSTR integrations, Cloudbeds included, are part of the free plan.
Do I need a particular Cloudbeds plan?
No. API keys are self-service on every Cloudbeds account, created from Account → Apps & Marketplace. No plan upgrade, no partner approval, no waiting.
How fast do booking changes come through?
Near real-time. Cloudbeds fires a webhook when a booking is created, changes status or moves dates, and BetterSTR picks it up within moments. An hourly full sync catches anything a webhook might miss.
Do guests need to download an app?
No. Guidebook links open in any browser, and the unique per-reservation link is generated automatically for every booking that syncs from Cloudbeds.
Can I use my Cloudbeds custom fields in guides?
Yes. Any custom fields you've set up on Cloudbeds reservations are available as shortcodes in your BetterSTR guides, alongside the built-in ones like confirmation ID, room name and party size.
