Smoobu is a Berlin-based channel manager and PMS, popular with independent hosts and small agencies across Europe who want calendars, messages and a booking website in one place. Its API is strong on bookings, with guest details, arrival times, language and prices for every stay, and lighter on listing content. So the BetterSTR side works like this: bookings flow in automatically from Smoobu, and you build the look and house information of each guide once, in our guide builder, where it carries over to every future guest.

Smoobu calls properties apartments. Here is what BetterSTR takes from each apartment and booking:

In Smoobu open Settings, Advanced, API Keys. Click Create API Key, then Generate Secret. Copy both straight away, as the secret is only displayed once.
Paste the key and secret into the Smoobu page in BetterSTR. Every request we make to Smoobu is signed with them, and the pair is checked before it is saved.
Optional but recommended. Copy your personal webhook URL from the Real-time updates card and paste it into Smoobu under Settings, Advanced, API.
Smoobu has no way for other software to subscribe to its webhooks, so the URL has to be added by you. Once it is, Smoobu notifies BetterSTR whenever a booking is created, changed, cancelled or deleted, and the guest's guide updates within moments. Skip that step and the integration still works: BetterSTR checks Smoobu for modified bookings every hour, so changes arrive within the hour instead. Apartment details are refreshed once a day.
Smoobu Fields and Smoobu Res appear in the guide builder's shortcode menu once you connect, including:

The single API key under Settings, Profile is Smoobu's older key, which Smoobu has retired. Create a new key and secret under Settings, Advanced, API Keys and use those instead.
No, but it's worth it. Without it BetterSTR picks up booking changes with its hourly sync. With the URL pasted into Smoobu's API settings, new bookings and changes arrive within moments.
Smoobu's API doesn't provide property photos, so BetterSTR can't import them. Upload your own photo in the guide builder and it is used for every booking at that property.
Yes, when the booking has a check-in or check-out time set in Smoobu. If it doesn't, BetterSTR falls back to 15:00 check-in and 11:00 check-out, because Smoobu's API has no standard times per apartment.
