Every OPERA Cloud reservation gets its own guest guide and a welcome by name on the in-room TV, connected through Oracle's own integration platform.
Built for hotels on OPERA Cloud
OPERA Cloud runs your front desk. BetterSTR reads your hotel and its reservations from it and gives each stay a personalised guidebook, a welcome by name on the in-room TV and a WiFi QR code that works first time.
The connection goes through Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform (OHIP), Oracle's own way for partners to connect to OPERA Cloud. Your OHIP access comes with your OPERA Cloud licence, so connecting BetterSTR adds nothing to your Oracle bill. Your administrator approves BetterSTR once in your OHIP portal and we set up the rest with you.
Because Oracle has to approve the connection, this one starts with a quick message rather than a key you paste in.

Here is exactly what BetterSTR reads from OPERA Cloud, and the one thing it writes back.
| Item | Synced? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel and rooms | Yes | Each room in OPERA becomes its own BetterSTR property, so the TV in room 214 welcomes room 214's guest. The hotel gets one more property that holds reservations OPERA hasn't given a room yet. Room type, floor, beds and maximum guests come from OPERA, with the hotel's name, address, phone, email, website, timezone and currency. New rooms start switched off, so you turn on the rooms that have a TV or need guides. A chain can connect several hotels. |
| Photos | No | OPERA Cloud doesn't share hotel photos through OHIP. Upload one under the property's Home Image in BetterSTR and your guide and TVs use it. |
| Check-in and check-out | Yes | The hotel's check-in and check-out times from OPERA (3pm and 11am if none are set), or the guest's expected arrival time when the reservation has one, drive message timing and the TV. You can set your own check-in and check-out times on each property, or for every property in Property Defaults. |
| Reservations | Yes | For rooms on Premium Guides or BetterSTR Simple: every reservation with its status, room number, room type, adults and children, the booking channel and confirmation number. Cancelled and no-show reservations come through as cancelled and their scheduled guide messages stop. Waitlisted reservations stay pending. |
| Guest name, phone and email | Yes | From the guest profile on the reservation. Card details, payment methods, ID and passport numbers, birth dates and home addresses are not stored by BetterSTR. |
| Hotel details for the guide | Yes | Hotel name, phone, email, website, address and check-in times are available as OPERA guide shortcodes such as {{opera_hotel_phone}}, and are given to the AI guide generator. Reservation details such as {{opera_room_number}} and {{opera_confirmation_number}} work too. |
| Door codes | No | OPERA Cloud has no door-code field. Hotels with key cards don't need one; otherwise add the code on the property in BetterSTR. |
| WiFi name and password | No | OPERA Cloud has no WiFi fields. Enter them once in BetterSTR to power the WiFi QR code on every TV and guide. |
| Guide link (written back) | To OPERA Cloud | Saved onto each confirmed, upcoming reservation as a comment titled BetterSTR guide, so front-desk staff can see it. We switch this on once we've tested it with your hotel during setup. Nothing else on the reservation is changed. |
| Guest messages (written back) | No | OPERA Cloud has no guest messaging through OHIP. BetterSTR sends the guide link by email or SMS from its own notification rules instead. |
BetterSTR checks OPERA Cloud for new, changed and cancelled reservations every 30 minutes, using OPERA's own change feed, and re-reads your hotel details once a day.
If you need something now, the OPERA Cloud page in BetterSTR has Sync Properties and Sync Reservations buttons, and Full Sync pulls in past stays.
Nothing extra from Oracle: OHIP bills the integration partner for its API calls, not the hotel, and that partner is us.
Because we pay Oracle for every call, OPERA reservations sync on a paid BetterSTR plan rather than the free one, and plans are per room: Premium Guides at 50c per reservation or $2.99 per room a month, or BetterSTR Simple per room. The in-room TV welcome screen is free; Premium TV features are $3.00 per TV a month with Premium Guides, and included in Simple. Your hotel and room details sync either way, so you can see the connection working before you choose. See pricing.

No. Unlike most of our integrations there is no key to paste. You send us your Enterprise ID, Chain Code, Hotel ID and region, we request the connection, and your OHIP administrator approves BetterSTR under Environments and Partner Connections in the OHIP Developer Portal.
Your OPERA Cloud administrator has them. The Hotel ID is the property code you see in OPERA Cloud, and the Enterprise ID and region are shown in your OHIP Developer Portal. None of them are passwords, so they are safe to send.
BetterSTR saves each guest's link onto their OPERA reservation as a comment titled BetterSTR guide, so your front desk can see it, and can send it to the guest by email or SMS from a BetterSTR notification rule. The in-room TV welcomes the guest by name either way.
Every 30 minutes, from OPERA's change feed, so a new, changed or cancelled reservation shows up within half an hour. You can also press Sync Reservations on the OPERA Cloud page in BetterSTR to pull changes in straight away.
Yes. We can check your hotel more often, but every check is a call Oracle charges us for, so a shorter interval costs more to run. We set it up case by case: contact us with how quickly you need changes and we'll work out what suits your hotel.
Send us your OPERA details and we'll take it from there.
